In the T.E.A.M. acronym, the “M” stands for measure. You need to measure the effectiveness of your leaders. Sometime a leader or a team member works out and sometimes they don’t. Be open an honest about this with your leaders. Evaluation is a positive and powerful tool and needs to be used consistently. Your leaders will make mistakes (for that matter so will you), but if you don’t have a format by which you evaluate progress, that mistake may grow into a much larger problem.

On the other side of the spectrum, use the evaluation tool as a way to reinforce the “wins”. In other words, let your leaders know what they did right! It’s necessary to talk about the mistakes, but even more necessary to talk through what’s working. Find a consistant way to measure effectiveness and you will have a ministry full of vibrant and motivated leaders!
