Bible in a Year (pt.6)

You hear it on any good crime show…”evidence points to motive”. As I was reading this morning I came upon a verse we’ve all heard before, but one we need to dwell on more often. Proverbs 5:21 says; “For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes.”

So as the Lord is examining our paths, what is He finding? Is there evidence of our faith? Is there evidence that we’ve invested in relationships? Is there evidence of striving towards the things of God?…Or is there evidence of inconsistency, self-reliance and faithlessness?

If evidence points to motive, then what is God finding within us. Are we motivated because of His interests or our own? Creatively, are we motivated to change lives or show people what we can do? These are questions we MUST consistently ask ourselves. There should be no greater motivation in our lives than to live for and act upon the things of God. The question is…is there evidence to support that motive?
